About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

recent changes 144hrs ?

I noticed that there are recent changes extending the visa free transit time to 144 hrs. I am also wondering if any changes have been made to travellers who have a booking on the ghan railway ? Also, while I am in china for 2 days I want to visit the Great wall, but I am not sure if this will take me out of the restricted travel area?
Thanks,B from Australia.

Actually, these changes have happened for a couple of years ago and in reality they have just improved the ability of visitors to enjoy much larger areas, to stay for a longer period and also to make connections from plane to ship and in some cases even from plane to train. During your stay in China, I assume in Beijing, you are definitely allowed to travel to the Great wall. In reality, beside Beijing and Tianjin city areas, you are allowed to travel all over Hebei province, so quite large area. You should just take care that your flight or flight/ship itinerary is eligible for 144 hours visa free transit. By the way, you are mentioning The Ghan train, but I really don't know what would be the connection between The Ghan travellers in Australia with Chinese 144 hours visa free transit rules?
