About:144-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Hong Kong - China - US

We are traveling from Hong Kong to Beijing to USA. This would qualify under the 144 hour visa correct?

No as no 144h visa exist in China.
But you're fine for the 144h twov (that's totalyl different as a visa)
