About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Incheon to Guangzhou to HK

I'm American and I'll be flying from Incheon airport to Guangzhou, from Guangzhou to Hong Kong. I'll depart from HK to return to Seoul at the end of the trip. Does my flight to HK need to be the same days as my arrival into Guangzhou?

Thomas, do we talk about three flights here? Seoul - Guangzhou, Guangzhou - Hong Kong and Hong Kong - Seoul... In case that your itinerary, all flights, is Seoul - Guangzhou - Hong Kong - Seoul, you are definitely eligible for 144 hours visa free transit in Guangzhou or better to say in the entire Guangdong province. I'm asking you about three flights because people lately use other means of transport between Guangzhou and Hong Kong. Of course, flying between the two places is fine and even the simplest way to comply with the rules of 144 hours visa free transit. By the way, your flight from Hong Kong to Seoul doesn't have to be on the same day as your flight from Guangzhou to Hong Kong. There is no rule that governs this detail. After you have landed in Hong Kong, you can stay there as much as you wish before your return to Seoul.
