About:240-hour Visa-free Transit in Shanghai, Zhejiang, and Jiangsu

DO I need a visa for London to Shanghai (4 nights) to Hong Kong (3 nights) to London?

great. so hong Kong is allowed as a third point or C as part of this iteniary. perfect. I thought hong kong wasn't allowed, as it is part of China?

Sorry, I am confused and I fly today. I am American flying to Shanghai (4 nights) and Hong Kong (3nights) and then London. Do I need a visa? I was told I cant fly shanghai to London without a visa by a colleague. Please let me know asap. THANKS!!

There is no problem of the itinerary: London - Shanghai - HK - London. You are eligible for the 144-hour free visa transit.

Just make sure London to Shanghai doesn't also transit HK or its considered HK > Shanghai . HK

No, you don't because London - Shanghai - Hong Kong - London is definitely eligible itinerary. You should just have in mind that you don't have any other landings within mainland China.

Hong Kong is part of China, but having its own immigration policy and the status of Special administrative region it is treated as the third country for the traveling purposes including the 144 hours visa free transit policy. The same rules that apply for Hong Kong are also valid also for Taiwan and Macau.
