About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Transit Visa Infromation

Hi
I have this itinerary:
Outbound
1. Melbourne (Australia) - Guangzhou - Urumqi - Amaty
a. Wait time in Guangzhou - 16 hours
b. Wait time in Urumqi - 6 hours

Inbound
2. Almaty - Urumqi - Guiyang - Shenzhen - Melbourne
a. Wait time in Urumqi - 8.5 hours
b. Wait time in Guiyang - 2 hours
c. Wait time in Shenzhen - 2 hours

Questions:
1. Would I be eligible for a 144-hour for the Guangzhou and Zhenzhen transits?
2. The wait times of 6 and 8.5 hours in Urumqi are above the 2-hour Visa-free transit period. Does that mean I will have a problem boarding the flight?

You must have a Chinese visa because of the stops in Urumqi.

In the whole document, there's no mention of any special visa requirement for transiting Urumqi.

"4. Foreigners who have confirmed onward tickets and seats on international flights and directly transit through China and stay for no more than 24 hours within the airport boundaries do not need to apply for a transit visa. However, anyone desiring to go beyond the airport boundaries temporarily should obtain permission from the immigration authorities at the airport."
