About:China Visa

My son is traveling to China with a college robotics team

He will be staying at a university outside Hong Kong with his team. They will represent Virginia Tech University but are not there to study. Is that considered a “non commercial” visa?

Hong Kong is considered a different country for visit purposes, most cases no visa needed for up to 90 days

1) U.S. citizen holding a U.S. passport may travel to HKSAR visa-free for a short visit or tourism and stay in HKSAR for up to 90 days.

2. U.S. citizen should obtain a visa if the intended stay in HKSAR is more than 90 days, or the purpose of visit is to work, study, establish or join in any business or to take up residence in the HKSAR before traveling to HKSAR.
