About:China Customs Declaration

i am traveling to china to install robotic equipment in harbin my question is:can i travel with a small tool box containing hand tools at a value of approx. 2500.00 (us) and to return with them when i return to us after the work is finished?

I think you can take them into China and take them away when you leave China, but you have to ask your employer in Harbin to provide you a proof for the using of your tools, and then make a declaration to China customs.
