About:144-Hour Visa-Free Transit

We flight from Lyon to Shanghai (arrival 8th july) and leave from Shanghai to Japan the 14th

at 12:00. We have french passport? Can you confirm we can ask for a transit visa ? If yes who will provide us with the arrival / departure card (Chinese authorities or carrier)?

You don't need a transit visa as you qualify for the 144h twov in Shanghai.
Please let the check-in agent in Lyon know that you'll get use of the 144h twov in Shanghai.
In Shanghai you have to go to the 144h twov counter to get your 6 days temporary permit.

btw. there are no nonstop flights from Lyon to Shanghai.
I guess you'll have another transfer in Europe as Paris, Amsterdam, Frankfurt?

There is not direct flight from Lyon. we have a connection in Dubai. Does the connection has an impact on the 144 H free visa opportunity?

No, it doesn't because your itinerary remains eligible with Dubai - Shanghai - Japan route.
