About:144-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Trans Mongolian Express with flight to Beijing

Hi. I am on the train into Ulaanbaatar, then flying to Beijing, staying 3 nights, then flying back home to London. Am I eligible for the 144 hour visa? Hadn’t heard of it and thought I needed to get a tourist visa. If I can get one, is it fairly easy to obtain?

You do not need a Chinese visa if you are taking the Saint Petersburg - UB train, flying nonstop from UB to Beijing, and flying nonstop Beijing-London. However, you will need a visa if you have Turkish stamps in your passport (immigration's latest policy, and yes, they do check your passport page by page).
