About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Phl pass, is transit visa needed?

Hi. I have a Philippine Passport. I will be traveling from Frankfurt, Germany to Manila, Philippines, (roundtrip) but I will have a 1.5 hours technical stop at Changsha and 7 hours layover at Guangzhou. Do I need a transit visa? and what does a technical stop mean? Do passengers need to go down the plane?

If your total layover in China is not more than 24 hours, you don't need the transit visa.

FYI, a technical stop is most commonly used to refuel the aircraft, to make unexpected essential repairs or to respond to some emergency need to land the aircraft. No traffic is unloaded or loaded during a technical stop. That is, passengers don't need to get off the plane.

Technical stop in this case means that you will continue your journey to Guangzhou on the same flight and by the same aircraft, but you will have a stop in Changsha where a part of passengers whose destination is Changsha will disembark. It is quite possible that even the passengers bound for Guangzhou will disembark for a short time, but they will soon return to the plane. By the way, it appears that your complete stay in China will be less than 24 hours and if this is a case, then you are qualified for 24 hours visa free transit.
