Visa for 3month old going to china ~ how long would it be for and type

I have a 3 month son, wife is Chinese ~ we want to take our son to china where my wife lives but would like to know what kind of visa is required and how long will it permit my son to stay in China.

You can apply for Q1 type. If you apply for China residence permit within 30 days after arriving in China, your son can generally stay in China for at least one year.
