Australia - China - Australia is not a transit, you'll need a visa for it.

Unfortunately, your itinerary does not qualify for visa free travel because this is not a transit, but a visit to China. As you can see, there is no third country. It is just fine to use Shanghai and Hanghzhou, but this is in reality a journey Australia - mainland China - Australia.

I would suggest you to introduce, for example, Hong Kong, so you itinerary will qualify. For example, you can travel Australia - Shanghai or Hanghzhou (those two cities are in the same visa area) - Hong Kong - Australia. Like this, you would qualify for 144 hours visa free travel because Hong Kong is considered as third country.
