About:China Visa

Are criminal record checks needed to get a X1 visa?

I am a Jordanian citizen currently holding a Z-visa and working in China, I am planning to quit my job, apply for a student visa at the Chinese embassy in Hong Kong and study Chinese language in mainland China. I recently applied for 1 year Chinese language course [self-funded study, starting September 2019] but my school asked me to attach a non-criminal record together with my application. I have an expired non-criminal record (issued on April 2017) which I have previously used to apply for my current Z visa in China.
The school accepted the expired non-criminal record when they got to know that I did not return back home during my whole working duration.
My question is: If the school provides me with the admission and the JW202 forms, will the Chinese embassy in Hong Kong ask me to provide a new non-criminal record or is it not required for X1 visa applications? And also do they require a Physical Examination check (Health check) or is it only required later after entering mainland China to apply for residency?

Thank you in advance :-)

Actually the non-criminal record is usually not required for X1 visa applications, but required for getting the JW202 form. IF the school can issue you the form, then you don't need to get another non-criminal record. The physical examination check is required after entering China for applying the residency in most cases, but may also be required during visa application. This is determined by consular officers.
