About:China Transit Visa

Indian passport holder transit thru Shanghai to get to Canada

I am flying out of delhi to Vancouver with Air canada visa shanghai, have long layover(almost 20 hours). do i need to have tranit/tourist visa prior to boarding ? or can i get one on arrival in shanghai, if needed

As your layover is less than 24 hours in China, you can enjoy the 24h TWOV so a visa is not required.
