About:144-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Eligible transit route?

Hello,
Guangdong recently implemented the 144 hour rule.
would this qualify as an eligible transit route?

US- Hong Kong- Guangzhou (3 days)- Hong Kong

That's not transit so no. US-HK-GZ-Macau works but you will need to fly from HK to Guangzhou and provide a confirmed ferry or bus ticket to Macau to immigration. (Also you need to actually go to Macau.)
