About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Flying to Shanghai for a cruise Visa requirements

We plan to fly to Shanghai from London, stay for 3 nights then depart on a 5 day cruise which stops in Japan before returning to Shanghai.

Can we use 144 hour visa free transit on the way out then 24 or 144 hour transit 5 days later so we can catch our flight home?

2 UK citizens and 1 US citizen.

Yes, you are eligible for 144 and 24 hours visa transits. Anyway, you should have in mind that your cruise should not have a port call in mainland China immediately after you have left Shanghai, i.e. your first port call after Shanghai has to be a Japanese port. Also, you should not have any mainland Chinese port call immediately before your arrival in Shanghai. Any Japanese port is fine.
