About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Siem Reap - Shanghai - Amsterdam

Hello, I'm Belgian and next week I travel back home from Siem Reap, with a 19h layover in Shanghai. Do I need a visa to visit the city during my 19h in Shanghai? What is the procedure? Thanks in advance.

The procedure is literally on this very page where you wrote your question, and it's under the big heading "Procedure". Please read it.

Your itinerary is fine and you are perfectly covered by 24 hours visa free transit. Upon your arrival in Shanghai you will apply for 24 hours free entry permit at the relevant counter close to immigration in order to be allowed to exit the airport. This is fairly easy and consists of filling a form and presenting your flight ticket and your accommodation booking in printed form. After that, in case that your flights are bought on separate tickets, you will collect your luggage and exit the airport. To conclude, you don't need any kind of visa.
