About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

I am in tansit for 16 hours in Shanghai. Will be taken to hotel by an airline.

Do I need a transit visa?

You are fine and you don't need any kind of visa because you will be covered by 24 hours visa free transit. Please, just keep in mind that you have to arrive from one country to China and depart to another country after your stay in Shanghai. Also, you should bring all your documentation, i.e. flight tickets and hotel booking in printed form to be allowed to exit the airport.
