About:144-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Do we qualify for 144 Hrs visa?

We are Australian citizens flying into Shanghai on a flight from Australia via Hong Kong on 3rd October 2019. We are staying three (3) nights in Shanghai then embarking on a Cruise via Hong Kong back to Sydney (Australia). Do we qualify for 144 Hrs visa?

Unfortunately not because, according to the rules of 144 hours visa free transit, you will perform the route: Hong Kong - Shanghai - Hong Kong. This is not allowed because it is treated as a visit to China and not as a transit. If only your flight to Shanghai doesn't have a layover in Hong Kong, everything would be fine. Like this, you will have to obtain Chinese visa in advance.
