Transit with stop on outbound fight

Hi - I have a flight booked with China Eastern from Auckland to Prague via Shanghai - I have just noticed the Shanghai to Prague flight has a stop in Xi'an - I hold a NZ passport - will I need a visa for this flight as it is not departing directly to a third country?
