Transit visa eligible? I’m a US citizen

Hi,
I’m a US citizen, flying to seoul in a couple weeks. I’m planning on flying to shanghai on a Thursday evening and visit a friend and then fly on to Bangkok Sunday morning. This is eligible for the 72 hour transit visa correct? I don’t need to apply for anything before I get to Shanghai?

Thanks! Manny

You don't need a transit visa for this trip when you fly Seoul - Shanghai - Bangkok.
It's fine for the 144h twov.
