About:144-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Different tickets from A to B and then from B to C

Hello, my plan is to take multi city ticket from point A (country in the list) to Hong Kong and from Shanghai to point A on one ticket. And separate ticket from Hong Kong to Shanghai. Time between arriving and departing Shanghai is APX. 96 hours. Departing flight will be confirmed before entering in China. Am I qualified for free transit visa?

Separate tickets are fine. Country A doesn't have to be on the list, but your nationality must be on the list.
