A Visa for 1 day stop in China on cruise ship?

I am visiting Shanghai on a cruise for one day in November 2019. Do I need to apply for a tourist visa for this one day visit?

If it's a transit in Shanghai and the layover time is under 24 hours, you can get the 24h twov. No need to apply for visa.
