About:240-hour Visa-free Transit in Beijing, Tianjin & Hebei

I am a US Citizen and I will be traveling To China with the following itinerary:

Vancouver - Beijing : Stay 4 Nights
BJ - Hong Kong: Stay 1 Night
Hong Kong - Phuket : Stay 3 Nights
Phuket - Hong Kong - Tokyo : Stay 4 nights
Tokyo - Shanghai : Stay 2 nights and Depart back to vancouver.

Do i need a Chinese Visa?

That doesn't need a visa if those are your only stops. Just be sure that your Shanghai to Vancouver flight does not also stop in Beijing.
