About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

72 Hour visa. I hold UK passport

but first I'll go to Bangkok for break, then from BKK to Guangzhou CAN for 72 hours transit, then onto Hong Kong, stay a few days then back to London.

Firstly, am I valid for a 72 hours transit free? and do I have to Fly out of CAN to HKG or can I take a train to Hong Kong?

Many thanks for your help in advance!

Your route is valid but only if you fly from CAN. You can’t take the train.

Does it matter if I fly from BKK to CAN on a single ticket from say China Southern, stay in Guangzhou for 72 hours, fly out to HKG via Dragon or Cathay, then BA back to London all on single tickets of different airlines.

Separate tickets are fine.
