About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Visa requirements. Please advise what Visa is required.

I am flying from UK to shanghi, staying in Shanghi for 3 nights then cruising to japan for 8 nights, Upon return to Shanghi I am flying to Bejing and staying 3 nights before flying home to UK.

UK - Shanghai - Japan is fine for the 144h twov as long as the first stop after Shanghai is not another chinese harbour.
For the return trip you'll need a visa as Zupan mentioned before.

You need usual pre arranged visa. Your planned travel between Shanghai to Beijing has ruined the possibility of travel without visa.
