You can search the Customs Clearance Guide for International Passengers on official website of General Administration of Customs Peoples' Republic of China.

According to the content on official website, the items over the limit of 1,500ml or above of alcoholic drinks (containing 12% or above alcoholic content) shall be levied duty upon. So you can take the beer less than 1,500 ml for free.
