Sydney - Beijing - Hong Kong: can apply to 144hrs Transit Visa?

I am flying from Sydney to Beijing for 5 days and then fly from Beijing to Hong Kong.
Italian citizen.
Can I apply for the transit visa since going to Hong Kong?
