Direct flight from London to Shanghai

My wife and I are Australian citizens and live in Sydney. We fly direct from Heathrow 23rd Aug to Pu dong Shanghai, we check out of our hotel 26th August and board “Majestic Princess” for cruise home to Sydney. On the way home one of the ports of call is Hong Kong on 31st Aug. we are there between 7am - 10pm. Are we eligible for the 144hour free visa? .....Peter Clegg

Is HK your first stop after Shanghai?
If so then you're fine for the 144h twov.

No! .....Shanghai, Busan (South Korea) then Hong Kong, Vietnam, etc, etc
.......does that then make it unattainable?
Thank you Thomas for your advices.
Peter.
