About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

24h transit plus 144 transit

i will be arriving into Shanghai from delhi to conect to Beijing by air or overnight train, haven't decided yet. Can we request the 24h transit for Shanghai and then request the 144 transit once in Beijing? we will leave beijing to shanghai to connect to a flight to london. Is that possible?

You need a visa if you fly through 2 Chinese cities and you are schedule for over 24 hours total in China. You cannot travel between Shanghai and Beijing on a TWOV you need to fly non-stop directly to the third country
