About:Hainan 30-Day Visa-Free Access

30 Day Visa Free Plus 60 Days on the Mainland

Hi I’m an American Citizen with a 10 year Chinese Visa. Am I permitted to stay 30 days on Hainan, then an additional 60 days on the Mainland? I already have the stamp in my passport from the airport when I landed. Much thanks!

China visa is prior to visa-free policies. You cannot apply for Hainan 30-day visa free access if you have already entered China with your visa. Hainan is also part of Mainland China and your total stay in Mainland China should not be longer than allowed duration of your visa.

Ok so entering Visa free you get something other than the normal red entry stamp placed in your passport correct?

If entering China using Hainan 30-day visa-free access, you also get a red entry stamp by China Immigration. But leaving date on it will be different.

Am I only permitted to stay 60 days total (permitted duration stay on my 10 year Visa)? I entered in Hainan and received a standard red entry stamp in Hainan, but would like to travel on to the Mainland afterwards. Does my time in Hainan eat into my permitted duration or is it exempted from my total stay duration?

If you hold a valid visa, then the visa shall be used as priority. And your time in Hainan will be eaten into you permitted duration.
