About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

18 hours delay ( free transit visa for Canadian) ?

I am Canadian travel to japan and come back home but will be overlay 18hours in Nanjing. Am I able to go out and book hotel stay over the night and have some sights in the city and come back to airport to my next destination?
