For Beijing you can use the 144h twov, for Guangzhou you need a tourist visa.

But it depends on which passport you travel to use the 144h twov in Beijing.

Guangzhou does not have 144-hour transit BUT the duration of stay starts from the next day of arrival (e.g., if you arrived at 1AM on Monday then the countdown begins at 12AM Tuesday and ends at 11:59 PM Thursday) so you need to calculate whether your stay falls under the exemption. If not, you need a tourist visa although Britsh citizens can get a two-year visa as well.
