About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Australian passport with the following plan for 72 hours or less in Guanzhou:

Melbourne to Singapore (in transit and without leaving airport in Singapore
Singapore to Guanzhou
Guanzhou to Melbourne.

Does the scenario above qualify for the 72 hour free transit>?

Make sure Guangzhou to Melbourne does not also transit through Singapore because it counts as a stop even if you don't leave the airport.
