Can I apply for 2 visas at the one time

I plan to study in China for 4 weeks and then plan to travel for a few months.
I have the documents for the study from the school in China. Should I apply for an X2 from April to May and also a Tourist visit from May. Is this allowed

One can only has a Chinese visa at a time. But you can try to change your X2 into tourist L type at the local PSB after entering China.
