About:144-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Vancouver - Dubai - Shanghai - Vancouver

I have a trip coming up that is a bit odd and I was just curious if I would qualify for the 144hr Free Transit.

Departure:
Vancouver - Gaoqi | Gaoqi - Hongqiao
<4hr layover
Hongqiao - Baiyun | Baiyun - Dubai

Return:
Dubai - Tianhe | Tianhe - Pudong
half day + 2 full days + half day IN Shanghai
Hongqiao - Gaoqi | Gaoqi - Vancouver

Somewhat of a weird flight pattern, but doing some reading, I would not require a VISA, but not sure if I qualify for the 72 or 144 Free Transit.

Thanks.

If your stay in China on your journey from Vancouver to Dubai is under 24h you don't need a visa, if it's over 24h you need a visa as you have 3 stops in China.

On your journey from Dubai to Vancouver you definitely need a visa as you have 3 stops in China so you don't qualify for the 72/144h twov.

You will be processed if you have a Chinese visa in your passport. If you don't have a visa in advance then you won't be able to board a flight to China.

You don't get to choose where you enter china. Wuhan > Shanghai is a domestic flight. You cannot fly from Wuhan > Shanghai without a Tourist (L) visa.
