About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

London - Hong Kong - Guangzhou - Hong Kong - Syndey. Can I use the 72 hour transit free?

My time in Hong Kong is 144 hours, though I know I don't need a visa on a UK passport. I plan to travel by plane to Guangzhou from HK. Can I (and my family) stay there for 72 hours using the transit visa if we then return to HK within that window, by train or plane?

Hong Kong is separate from mainland China. You can stay in Hong Kong for 90 days with UK passport without a visa. You will need a visa to visit Guangzhou since you will be entering and exiting mainland China via the same country.
