About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Forty Hour Layover

I am flying from Brisbane to London via Guangzhou & due to a cancellation & rescheduling, I have forty hours to kill in Guangzhou.

Will I be able to apply for my 72 or 144 hour twov on the way there & be able to leave the airport?

It depends on your nationality. If your passport is from one of the 53 qualifying countries, then you don't need a visa for 72 hours transit at Guanghzou (no 144 hours there) and you can leave the airport. Otherwise you need a visa.
