About:China Transit Visa

China Transit Visa. I plan to travel to Nepal on China Eastern Airlines from the United States.

I am an American citizen. My flight is from Seattle to Shanghai, where I will transfer to a China Eastern flight 2 hours lter to Kunming. My China Eastern flight from Kunming to Kathmandu will depart 12 hours later. On my return, I will fly from Kathmandu to Kunming and then 12 hours later take a China Eastern flight to shanghai. My China Eastern flight from Shanghai to San Francisco flight will depart Shanghai the next day - 24 hours later.

Does this qualify for a transit visa whether it is 24 or 72 hours free transit?

On the way to Kathmandu, you qualify for free transit. On the way back, if your total layover in China is more than 24 hours, you might need visa for that.
