About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

24 Hour free transit for China for UK Passport Holder

I am travelling with my wife on a Costa cruise in April 2019 which docks in Shenzhen China.

Can I travel with a 24 hour free transit?

If so where do I get the visa ?

24 hour free transit is not available in Shenzhen when the next port is Hong Kong

It sounds like we are going on the same cruise and we are planning to take the ferry from Shenzen to Hongkong, as we would like to spend more time in Hongkong. We asked the chinese visa service here in Copenhagen about transit visa. Thinking they must be able to give the exact answer, but no, we were asked to speak to our tour operator. So we asked Costa and - No answer. The ferry to HK leaves from the same port terminal as the Costa in Shekou and the article above says:

24-hour Direct Transit Rules

An eligible transit route goes like Country A → China → Country C.

A and C are different countries. Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan can be regarded as A or C in this respect. For instance, if a passenger travels like USA – Beijing – Hong Kong, there is no doubt that this route qualifies for China 24 hour TWOV.

So in our case, Country A is Vietnam- China- Hongkong. I guess we´ll try and see if we get the transit visa when we get there.

You will need a tourist (L) visa as there is no visa-free transit in Shenzhen when traveling to Hong Kong

Hello David
I am also on this cruise. Iglu cruises are insisting a visa is required however I have an email from Costa HO who contacted the port authorities saying if I stay on board I don't need a visa.
Not sure what to do but time is running out.
