Transfer at Beijing Capital Airport when I fly from Xian to Chicago

I will take a flight from Xian to Chicago, but need to transfer at Beijing. The ticket was bought together. The flight from Xian to Beijing is flied by Air China, but from Beijing to Chicago is flied by United Airline. My question is if I need to pick up my luggage and check in again in Beijing or I will get my board pass together in Xian and don't need to pick my luggage. I only have 1 hour and 45 minutes transfer time. How can I expedite my process? Thanks !

No, you don't need to pick up the luggage and check in again at PEK. If you purchase the interline tickets, you will catch the flight. If not, I am afraid that the time is not enough. You should prepare at least 2.5 to 3 hours to finish this transfer.
