About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit FAQ

LAX - HKG - PVG - LAX

Hi, we'll be traveling from Los Angeles to Hong Kong, arriving Monday morning and staying for approximately 54 hours, flying into Shanghai (PVG) on Wednesday afternoon and staying for approximately 75 hours, and departing Saturday evening. Do we qualify for visa-free because of the count starting at 00:00 day after arrival in Shanghai? Thank you in advance for any help!

Shanghai has 144 hours transit without visa, so no problem staying 75 hours. Just make sure that your PVG-LAX flight does not touchdown in either Hong Kong or mainland China.
