About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

UK passport, stopping in Shanghai 17 hours

Will I be able to leave the airport on a 17 hour transit. I do not need a Visa no? Just the stamp from Immigration at the Airport? Am I correct. Thank you

In Shanghai, leaving the airport without a visa for a layover under 24 hours is at the immigration officer's discretion. In some cases, however, people were let in when they showed their hotel booking confirmations. You can try this.
