About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Visa confusion. Do I qualify for a 144 hour Visa?

Question 1: Flying from LAX to Bangkok with a layover in Beijing. Do I need entry permit?

Question 2: My return trip is from Bangkok to Beijing. Staying there 4 days. Then departing from Beijing with layover in PVG/Shanghai en route back to LAX.

Question 1: You don't need a visa as you qualify for the free transit in Beijing.
Question 2: On the return trip, if it's Bangkok-Beijing-PVG/Shanghai-LAX, you should apply for a visa as you cannot use the free transit.
