Weekend trip from Seoul

I was interested in doing a weekend trip from Seoul, and was wondering if I could do that without getting a visa? I would have a return ticket, so technically not in transit to a third country, but my stay would be under 72 hours

If you travel route is Korea - Shanghai - Korea, then you need to apply for the visa in advance in your country.
