About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

USA-Beijing (very short layover)- Taiwan - Beijing (26 hour layover - USA

Would this qualify for the 72 hour twov? I have a tourist visa but unfortunately, my girlfriend does not. We would like to spend that longer layover exploring the city
