About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

uk citizen travelling via China

im a uk passport holder,I have a flight from Bangkok to San fransisco via an 8hr layover in wuhan, i cant tell if i need to have a visa for China for the layover? my ticket doesnt specify if i need to recheck my luggage or it goes straight from bangkok to USA? so Do i need entry permit? i cant seem to find the right information on china southern website or the kiwi site i bought my ticket from

Bangkok-Wuhan-San fransisco qualifies for the free transit in China, and you don't need visa. Please contact with the airlines to ask if your luggage will be delivered to the final destination directly.

Yes, you are supposed to clear customs.
