About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Visiting Shanghai, Quick Layover in Beijing - Do I Need A Visa?

I am traveling from Malaysia to China. I am spending only 2 days in Shanghai, then flying from Shanghai to USA. However, there is a 3 hour layover in Beijing. I will not leave the airport. Will this require entry permit?

Yes, that requires a visa. Two stops limits you to 24 hours transit in China if you don't have a visa.
