About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Maltese passport holder entering Shanghai on a cruise

Hi,

Will be going on a cruise and will be visiting Shanghai for a day (14hrs). the ship will be sailing to Taiwan after. Am I eligible for the 144-hrs free transit? When in Shanghai do I need to take a tour with any specific company?

If Shanghai is your only port of call in China, then yes. There is no need to book a tour.
