About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit FAQ

Different airlines with different entrance and exit cities.

I am looking at booking flights from Vancouver, Canada to PVG via Guangzhou. From PVG we would fly onwards to the Maldives via Sri Lanka on a different airline. Time between arrival in Guangzhou and departure from PVG to Sri Lanka would be just under 30 hours. On the return we would enter China via PVG then switch airlines and fly to Guangzhou and then back to Vancouver (would spend under 48 hours in China before leaving the country). Would this itinerary be eligible for the free transit?

You need a visa in advance. Two stops in China limits you to 24 hours free transit.
